​Performing and visual artist Karla Milugo from Brooklyn and beyond is taking an artist hiatus in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. In the month she is planning to spend here, Milugo is doing art and exploring the Philly environs. Your interviewer encountered her wearing a large, crafted camera apparatus at the Germantown Kitchen Garden urban farm oasis where a potluck picnic and concert was taking place. The camera is also a balloon pumping station and Milugo entertains kids by blowing up balloons and drawing their likeness on them. Milugo also spoke of her Preacher Faith Faucet  person and her book divination projects and  she indulged your interviewer by demonstrating her whistling prowess and singer creds. As the sun was setting the lively salsa band Combo Melaza rocked the crowd including Milugo who videoed while she salsa-ed.

With a shiny turquoise gown and spiked Statute of Liberty hat to match, bearded Tom Humphrey waves at cars passing by on Ridge Avenue in Roxborough to drum up business for Liberty Tax Services. “It’s a fun job,” and he gets to meet a lot of people and see his neighbors, says Humphrey who works four-hour shifts, morning, noon or night, depending on his schedule. Some “wavers” who work other shifts are not so keen on the rainy, sleety or snowy conditions that, he hints, don’t faze him. According to Humphrey, this is Liberty’s signature and effective way of advertising, as the company does not advertise on radio, TV or in newspapers. Watch video here.

 PASSERSBY REACT TO BOULDER WRAPPED AS CHRISTMAS PRESENT

Passersby react to seeing a boulder at the corner of Ardeigh and Evergreen in Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia, gift wrapped in green and red. The boulder appears to have been placed on the sidewalk at the corner intersection to keep motorists from driving up on the sidewalk when they make a turn. Watch video here.

PARKING LOT ATTENDANT SAYS NO ONE'S BEEN TOWED YET FOR PARKING BUT NOT PATRONIZING TOP OF HILL BUSINESSES

The Chestnut Hill parking lot at the top of the Hill off of Bethlehem Pike has an attendant to ward off parkers who are not patronizing Top of the Hill plaza businesses. Other lots in Chestnut Hill are policed by the Philadelphia Parking Authority which monitors kiosk-issued timed parking receipts. There are often a lot of open spaces at the Top of the Hill Lot. Matt, the attendant, says you probably won't get towed if you park just long enough to return at book at the Chestnut Hill library at the northwest side of the lot. Watch video here.

Lou, a construction manager, is taking a break from work to care for his 4-month-old baby daughter while his wife continues to work. Tired of staying inside so much, they began taking their daughter on hikes. On this day, Lou had hiked a mile with Ilya before a refreshment break and diaper change at the Cedars Café at the northern end of Forbidden Drive. Watch video here.
